ALO YOGA TOP | ALO YOGA AIRBRUSHED PANT
If you have never been to a Yoga class it can be super intimidating. What do you wear? What equipment should I bring, if any? Knowing what to wear to a Yoga class can be a struggle, so I am going to take one worry off your plate and share with the newbies What to Wear to Yoga!!! Or if you are a regular I will be sharing some cute work out clothes for you.
The ladies at THE YOGA SHACK were so kind to open their yoga studio and instruct me in my own private yoga session. I realize I am not flexible and need A LOT of stretching. The hot yoga classes are great for your muscles and tension.
My instructor was amazing! She made me feel comfortable and relaxed within the yoga studio, when I was sure she would only laugh at my inability to flow through all of the yoga poses. It was nice to take a beginner class I cannot wait to go back and try the different classes to see which style of yoga I love.
What to Wear to Yoga
Sports Bra
I love a sports bra that has a higher neckline and gives good support. A sports bra should be comfortable and form fitting.
Quality Leggings
Quality leggings make a HUGE difference in your workout. You absolutely do not want them to be see through. That is my worst fear. You want them comfortable and flexible to flow through all of your movements. Another thing I have experienced is sweat showing through the leggings and it can make the leggings look weird or just flat out embarrass you like it did me! I totally walked out of the studio wearing my jacket around my waist! I have found it better to find a good pair of quality leggings are better than buying a bunch of cheap pairs. Sometimes it can be an investment. Comfort and fit are key in a good quality pair of yoga pants. I am loving these LEGGINGS I found on AMAZON. And you can even wear short shorts if you are more comfortable in your yoga poses.
Yoga Tank Top
My latest obsession is this TANK TOP. It is a form fitting tank top that does not creep up my waist and it covers all the right places. It is great for any workout or yoga class. You want to be comfortable in all poses, so that may be a form fitting shirt that doesn’t move around while you’re flying or during a downward dog. But you may be more comfortable in a loose fitting top that flows with each movement. There are so many cute crop tops that are sports bras as well and you my prefer to take your shirt off and go through the class just in your bra.
Comfortable Shoes
You won’t need shoes during your class, but you will want some comfortable shoes to wear coming and going!
Athletic Jacket or Sweater
I always carry a jacket or a lightweight and loose fitting long sleeve top with me to wear over my workout clothes. I am always freezing everywhere I go, and of course it completes my #mommyuniform if I decide to not change clothes after my workout. Which, let’s be real is 99% of time. Either way, it is always nice to have a jacket on hand!
What to bring with you to Yoga:
Yoga Mat
If it’s your first time, I would bring a mat. The yoga studio may have some to borrow, but I always feel more comfortable using my own. Then you will have the length and thickness that is comfortable for you. And I may be a bit of a germaphobe and want my own for cleanliness!
Yoga Towel
You will want a towel if you sweat a lot or take a hot yoga class. I know nothing about sweating! Hahahaha! Just kidding if you saw my stories the other night from cycling you will know I sweat just a little. You may want something a little extra to help keep you from slipping on your mat and a towel will help you!
Change of Clothes
If you are headed to work or brunch with the girls! You can always throw a change of clothes into your bag!
Face Wash
A clean face after a good workout is always a good idea!
Water
You always want to stay hydrated no matter what exercise you are participating in! I can tell a HUGE difference when I am not drinking lots of water! We have been big on using reusable water bottles since the first of the year! So many cute bottles out there too, so it makes it fun!
