I feel like September was a blur and I lost the whole month due to Irma. The good news is I am finally recapping our trip to Chicago! The kiddos were able to accompany us this trip and I do not think we will be able to get out of town without them again. They were thoroughly spoiled by our good friends and given the royal treatment from the moment we arrived at our hotel. I am pretty sure they think this is the way we travel every time we leave.

We stay just outside of Chicago in Naperville and they were having the Last Fling. They bring in a ton of artists for concerts and the streets are lined with food and rides. We started the morning eating breakfast at my favorite spot, EGG HARBOR CAFE. The kids had a blast with unlimited rides with new friends and eating their way through the carnival. They were able to sing and dance to live country music. That night the parents saw Brett Michaels in concert. I don’t know why that still makes me laugh but it was so fun! Concerts always have great people watching and at the end of the concert weWe ended the night at the EMPIRE RESTAURANT AND BAR. They had THE most amazing food that I am still talking about! Their Dirty Chips and Poutine fries are to die for and if you go you have to try the Yardbird sandwich.

The next day we took the train into the city. We took the kiddos to all of the major sites. Starting at the Willis Tower Skydeck, lunch at Shake Shack, then to the swings and Ferris wheel at the Navy Pier. We finished with the Bean. B didn’t understand why I wanted to go there. I kept telling him it was something he had to do in Chicago and that everyone would ask him if he saw it. Ha! I was wrong, no one has asked! Then we all ate traditional Chicago style pizza to cap off our day. I couldn’t believe how much we fit into one day! And the kiddos were amazing!
I have a feeling the Last Fling may become a tradition for us! I had already shown you my PACKING LIST, so I linked Audrey’s outfits above. I realized at the last minute she would need warmer clothes. TARGET to the rescue! Even though some would say her needing warmer clothes is debatable!
